Colossians 1:11
“Strengthened
with all might, according to His glorious power; for all patience and long suffering with joy.” NKJV
Through God, we have strength. This is not a physical
strength, but a spiritual strength. It gives us the power to endure “for all
patience and long suffering with joy.” When most people go through low points in
their lives, they tend to lose patience and want to just give up, but what this
verse is saying is that you don’t have to lose heart in these times.
Galatians 6:9 says,
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if
we do not lose heart.”
This verse reminds me that there’s always hope. When
we are wanting to lose heart, we are not to grow weary, but we are look to God
for our strength.
Colossians 1 goes on to say in verses 12-14, “giving thanks to the Father who has
qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He
has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of
the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the
forgiveness of sins.”
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the Cross for
our sins that we may have freedom from our pasts and be allowed to move on
through the trials of life in a manner worthy to God. Instead of trying to
solve our problems in the club, on the internet, or getting in debt, God gives
us the option that we may attain eternal life according to His glorious power.
Our strength will fail us, but His strength will keep us going. “In due season we shall reap if we do not
lose heart.”
Application: Today I will encourage myself in the Lord
by looking to those people in the Bible who had this spiritual strength and
asking myself how I might also gain this strength.
